Chief Medical Officers

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is a leader who ensures patients receive exemplary
medical care. The role of the CMO requires insight into patients’ medical needs,
understanding of organizational priorities, and knowledge of healthcare regulations. As a liaison between medical staff and administrators, the CMO is in an excellent position to ensure organizational decisions reflect the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. This award acknowledges the contributions of the Top Chief Medical Officer.

Recipients of the Emerging Leader Award meet the following criteria:

Recognized as a thought leader in the medical leadership field, both within the medical facility and in the broader medical profession
Actively advocates for implementation of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) principles across functional areas
Able to effectively lead across functional areas in the medical facility
Ensures medical services are proficiently provided to patients by incorporating DEIB principles
Actively mentors and coaches others interested in medical leadership
Commitment to recruiting diverse candidates for both medical and non-medical positions
