Authentic Leadership Award

The National Diversity Council seeks not only to uphold and promote the principles of authentic leadership but also aims to recognize individuals who personify these principles. The Authentic Leadership Award is designed to recognize someone who leads courageous conversations – about topics like race, gender, age, and national origin – within his or her organization in order to create a safe, transparent and inclusive workplace environment.



  • Promotes the importance of authenticity, transparency and inclusion within the workplace and community
  • Leads and facilitates courageous conversations on important topics that impact the local community and workplace – such as race, gender, age, national origin, etc. – to foster open communication within the organization
  • Encourages employees to bring their whole selves to work
  • Holds a senior leadership position (i.e., VP, SVP, EVP, C-Suite, President) within his or her organization

Authentic Leadership Award

The deadline for award nominations is 2 months prior to the event or publication date. *Please note that award opportunities are filled on a rolling basis beginning as early as 8 months prior to the event date, so award openings may be filled prior to the nomination deadline.
